Preparing For Your Shoot

Get Ready To Show Your Strength

How To Prepare For Your BB Fitness Photoshoot

Your photoshoot is about celebrating everything you’ve worked for. A little preparation beforehand can help you feel more confident, look your best and get the most from your time in front of the camera.
Don’t worry though — you don’t need to do anything extreme. We’ve got you covered.
What Should I Bring?

Pack More Than You Think You'll Need

Your outfits help create variety throughout your shoot, so we’d rather you bring too much than not enough. Depending on the style of your shoot, we recommend bringing:

Gym Wear

Something A Little Different

Training Accessories

Not sure what will work? Bring it anyway — we can decide together when you arrive.

How Many Outfits?

Your session determines how many outfit changes you’ll have:

The Power Session

Up to 2 outfits

The Strength Session

Up to 3 outfits

The Legacy Session

4–5 outfits
We recommend bringing a couple of options for each look so we can choose what works best with the lighting and style of your shoot.
The Week Before Your Shoot

Don't Make Any Drastic Changes

This isn’t the time to completely change your diet or training routine. Keep doing what normally works for you.

Train As Normal

Keep following your usual training routine. If you’re preparing for a competition, follow your coach’s advice rather than changing things specifically for the photoshoot.

Stay Hydrated

Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your shoot. Good hydration helps you feel your best and keeps your skin looking healthy.

Get Some Sleep

Try to get a good night’s sleep before your session. You’ll feel more energised, more confident and ready to go.
The Day Before

Keep It Simple

Avoid trying anything new that could irritate your skin or leave you feeling uncomfortable. If you normally shave or trim, do it as you usually would. If you use fake tan, make sure it’s even and appropriate for the look you’re going for.
And most importantly — don’t spend the night worrying about how you’re going to pose. That’s our job.
Should I Train Before My Shoot?

It Depends On You

Some people like to train before a shoot because they enjoy the feeling of being pumped and energised. Others prefer to arrive rested. There’s no single right answer.
If you do choose to train beforehand, keep it consistent with what your body is used to and don’t push yourself to exhaustion. If you’re preparing for a competition, always follow your coach’s guidance.
What Should I Eat?

Don't Starve Yourself

This is really important. You don’t need to stop eating before your photoshoot or follow a crash diet. Eat normally and choose foods that you know make you feel comfortable and energised.
If you’re competition prepping, stick to your usual plan and follow your coach or nutritionist’s advice. The goal is for you to feel strong, confident and comfortable — not exhausted.
Skin & Grooming

Come Camera-Ready — But Still You

If you normally shave, trim or groom, do what you’d normally do. We recommend avoiding any new skincare treatments immediately before your shoot — that includes new products, tanning products or anything that could cause irritation.
If you’re having professional makeup, we’ll discuss your preferred look before the shoot.
Should I Get A Spray Tan?

If You Want To — But It's Not Essential

A tan can enhance definition under studio lighting, particularly for bodybuilding and physique photography. However, it isn’t necessary. If you do use a spray tan or self-tan, please make sure it’s:
If you’re competing, follow your normal competition-prep routine.
What About Makeup?

Yes — You Can Add Professional Makeup

Makeup Artist — £50
If you’d like a little extra help getting camera-ready, we can arrange a professional makeup artist for your shoot. It’s a popular choice for fitness portraits where you want a polished, editorial finish.
You can add professional makeup to your chosen BB Fitness Experience when booking.
Want More Than Photographs?

Add Professional Video Content

Your shoot can also include video content for social media, websites and personal branding. Video content is available from £45. Perfect for creating:
Ask us about the available video options when booking.
What If I'm Nervous?

That's Completely Normal

You might be confident in the gym but feel completely different standing in front of a camera. You’re not alone.
You don’t need to know how to pose. You don’t need to know where to put your hands. You don’t need to know which side is your best side. We’ll guide you through it all — how to position your body, where to look and how to move.
By the end of your session, you’ll probably be wondering why you were ever nervous.
